Coping With Leg And Bladder Spasms
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Any tips? I'm getting over a major IC flare-up, and although things have settled down pretty well, I am still being troubled by bladder spasms. I tend to get 2 or 3 close together and then go a few hours without.

Sometimes they are super painful (like really bad period cramps or early labour pains!) but sometimes I barely feel anything. It usually results in a leak, sometimes just a little one and sometimes a big gush.

I do have some nerve damage, so this isn't entirely IC / fibro related… read more

I also take hylands leg cramp pills. You can get them at Wal-Mart or walgreens. They are all natural and work good. if I start getting a Charlie horse I take 1 and it stops it right away. Worth a try. Good luck.

I am taking 5 MG of Cyclobenzaprine twice a day, which helps with my bladder spasms. If needed, I can take it three times a day. I saw a urogynecologist for the bladder spasms and go back once a year. Also, being put on Microgestin to stop periods helps to lessen the flares for bladder spasms.

Thanks :) I do take both flexeril and ropinirole and I do find that they help for the leg spasms, but they still sometimes come on quite badly in the evening. The bladder spasms come and go a bit and I'm wondering if there's something else that would work better. At the moment I'm doing a 'timed programme' (every 2 hours) to try to get it back under control, but I haven't noticed much of an effect so far!
