For example: My test result for the ANA and anti dsDNA came back back positive. Yet, they say no lupus, or scleroderma, RA, etc. How many of us are either not diagnosed correctly or dismissed because our test results are not impressive enough. I just am curious how many of us are in this category.

Members connected over the shared frustration of having positive autoimmune markers like ANA while being diagnosed with fibromyalgia instead of lupus or other autoimmune conditions, with many feeling dismissed when their test results were borderline or labeled as not significant enough. Several members described being diagnosed with overlapping conditions including Sjögren's syndrome, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, and celiac disease, reinforcing the sense that fibromyalgia may coexist with or mask autoimmune disorders. A recurring theme was the difficulty of getting doctors to take symptoms seriously, the limitations of standard testing that treats all bodies as average, and the belief that fibromyalgia itself may be autoimmune in nature even when blood work appears normal.

Yes! I have wondered that for a while because i had indicators for lupus but the rhumy said it was fibro because the indicator was small and just tietering and thought i was being fobbed off! Iv asked my doctor to check again incase my inflamation or lupus indicator got higher and she said its stayed the same so its fibro. So if ur unsure just get thw doc to check again!

Yes I was too!!! My doctor said I do have autoimmune disease because I have Hashimotos disease in my Thyroid she also said when you start getting them more will follow. So I think Fibromyalgia is one too!!!!

Unfortunately many tests for ANY disorder are based on an "AVERAGE" or "Standard" scale. Your test scores may be borderline, but that does not necessarily mean you aren't positive. We are all treated as if our body chemistry should test the same as any other average subject, which results in so many Undiagnosed disorders, because there is no custom test. I pray you find out exactly what is going on! I currently am experiencing the same issues, but finding a physician who cares enough to explore further is the key.

I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica last November. It was a shock. Then in March I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis, a worse shock. I’m 65years old. Google the list of autoimmune diseases, it’s interesting.

Negative ANA but I’ve only had 1 test and that was 7 months ago when I first started having symptoms. I often wonder if I had another one if something would come up. There are lots of people on here that have had weakly positive ANAs w/ no autoimmune diagnosis. I swear I feel like fibro is autoimmune if the brain. For instance, I wonder if they took a brain biopsy, would they find some specific markers for folks with fibro.
