My new doctor told me that he didn't believe fibro was a real diagnosis but did believe the pain was real. He had me go through a ton of tests that all ruled out what he thought it might be, (ie MS,). I am really fustrated and upset. Has anyone else had this happen?
Hi if you have time watch this video on YouTube called Doctors Confession to Women Suffering with Fibromyalgia by doctor David J Clark
Eg he explains that people suffering from fibromyalgia have an inflamed Central Nervous System.
My first doctor didnt beleive me when i told him about all my symptoms. He just told me it was depression. It was so frustrating. I was finally digonosed in 2007. This year has been the worse it has every been. Get a new doctor. They call it practicing medicine for a reason. If he doesnt believe in it you wont be properly treated.
Sometimes it is a good thing to rule out other possible health issues. I was told for 20 years I had fibro but recently was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which is a connective tissue disorder that affects the collagen in the body. This is the glue that holds all your bones together. Mostly found in people with hypermobility. Of course with my luck I also have fibro, chronic/migraine headache and a list of other issues. Apparently their is a blood test now that can determine if you have fibro or not. You might want to ask a referral to a genetic doctor. Good luck.
Not as yet and in all honesty until i was redianosed by a team of doctors at another hospiral who specializes in womens health issues i didnt really believe i had it myself.
Yes my doctor took 2 years to refere to the correct consultant
