My Husband and are planning a trip and I’ve been advised to get a tetanus shot and the Twinrex shots. I’m thinking this might be a bad idea because of my body’s reaction to a flu shot. I was pretty much bed ridden for 2 weeks. Since then I have been told forgo the flu shot. I’m really hoping that that experience was just a fluke. Has anyone reacted to immunizations?

The flu shot is different every year. They choose the 3 or 4 strains of the virus that are most likely to impact a geographic area ln and make a vaccine to combat those. Twinrix and tetnus are entirely differnt vaccines. Ithe nurses where you go for the shots have additional training in immunizations and should be able to answer any questions you have.

Hello there,
I too had a flu vaccine 30 years ago and developed Guillain barre syndrome, since that i have had ME and then 10 years ago fibromyalgia started....I’m not allowed vaccinations of any kind now and am very poorly and unable to work or do much of anything other than the mundane....
Sorry to be a kill joy.....Hope this is useful in making your decision.....

Shingles is a live vaccine, the flu shot is not.. shingles vaccine is 14x the strength of a normal chicken pox infection... probably why you reacted. I would check on the live/not live aspect and strength of the vaccine first.
