I find that each year I have more physical crises and less function. This year it is the interaction of post surgery malfunction kicking off the Fibro. Been mostly out of commission for 3 months and now must use a cane for balance. What have you experienced over time? Does your body vet worse and lose function??

Members overwhelmingly confirmed that their fibromyalgia has become more progressive over time, with many describing worsening pain, increased fatigue, new symptoms like migraines and restless leg syndrome, longer-lasting flares, and reduced mobility requiring canes or wheelchairs. Several members shared medication strategies that have helped manage symptoms, including Lyrica, tramadol, amitriptyline, Cymbalta, medical marijuana, and an over-the-counter sleep aid called Alteril, though many noted needing to increase dosages over the years. A recurring theme was the challenge of distinguishing fibromyalgia pain from other conditions like osteoarthritis and aging, the difficulty getting adequate sleep due to pain, and the importance of managing diet, exercise, stress, and weather-related triggers to help control symptom severity.

My fibro has become worse every year. I had read somewhere that fibro was not a progressive illness, but I think it probably is.

I’ve had fibromyalgia for more years then I care to remember yes it gets worse on function with age we don’t bounce back as well then put fibromyalgia on top and it’s got to the point of impossible to balance I’m at that point where my fibromyalgia decides my day

Yes, for me it has been over 10 years since I was diagnosed due to chronic hip pain.. since then, it’s spread, and this year can add restless leg syndrome and in the past month, it’s been migraines. Hate this disease, amd am often unable to even get out of bed. Think it’s different for each of us.

Not for me. It’s a combination of how well I manage diet exercise sleep meds stress etc. when I manage those factors well Fibro gets better. However today my osteoarthritis was kicking my butt! But I know the barometric pressure is dropping and it will improve once it starts dropping. Plan to sleep alone in downstairs bedroom to sleep better. Jan I really think the factors I mentioned are key at least for me. Take care and don’t lose heart! Hugs. Love you
