Hi I am a vege but thinking of going Vegan as have heard stories that this can help does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I have lupus, fibromyalgia, tinnitus, migraines, reynaud's phenomenon, anxiety and major depressive disorder (to name a few). I stopped caffeine, went vegan and am taking vitamins B, D3 and magnesium in addition to a multi vitamin. I'm on Lyrica, Plaquenil, Cymbalta, Topomax and Flexenil. I also take percocet and have fentanyl 100mg patches for pain. I have a medical marijuana card too. In other words...I've tried everything. For me, my symptoms keep compounding and are only getting worse. Fibromyalgia is the worst illness in the world.
@A MyFibroTeam Member with all those meds hun, your body can't possibly know whether it's arthur or martha.. I'd be very concerned about how much your symptoms are from the cocktail of meds.. have you considered alternatives, as some of those meds do the same thing.. Plaquenil changes your DNA and is actually a treatment for malaria.. see my bio for other ideas you may not have tried? Turmeric being one of them. x
I went Vegan for 5 months after my diagnosis. Lost 30 lbs, but I had to stop because I wasn’t feeling right. I eventually learned that people with Fibromyalgia process protein at a higher rate than healthy people do. So I wasn’t getting enough protein. It’s suggested that we eat or drink some protein every 2 hours, 80-100 grams daily. There are some good Vegan protein powders out now, so it is possible.
