Endometrial Ablation
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I asked my doctor about getting this done because I have bad periods and anything else I have tried has not helped, with the last thing being the IUD and now may need to be surgically removed šŸ˜ž. I was told that you have to go under to get the Endometrial Ablation and when your period returns she told me Iā€™m obligated at that point to get a hysterectomy? Has anyone had this done and can give me any advice or input please?

I had this done in 2011, they found a lot of endometrial tissue and my Fallopian tube twisted and stuck to abdominal wall by it! The removed my Fallopian tube and ovary on one side. I was put to sleep for the procedure. After that I take Junel FE continuously, I never stop and never have a period. Works for me!! You could try that route first....

Wow! Lots of great advice here! @A MyFibroTeam Member I had 3 IUDs in my life and the last one they had a very hard time finding the string too. It hurt very badly when they finally got it out. Few years later and lots of cramping and pain I saw a new gynecologist who did a biopsy to check for endometriosis, but luckily I didn't have any, but I did have cysts on my ovaries that came back abnormal but not cancerous. I then had the painful ovary removed, leaving one in and a D&C done. I was told I had very heavy scar tissue in my uterus. I had very light less painful periods ever since. I really think that the IUDs really tore me up inside and also I wasn't able to get pregnant because of all the damage it had done. But I'm fine now. You know I just recently had my tube clamped off and I thought that would be better than cutting it in half. Definitely get a second option and learn all you can. I wouldn't get a hysterectomy unless it was really necessary and there was no other option that would work for you. Just my opinion. I like keeping what I have if at all possible. Hugs sweet lady. ā™” ā™” ā™” Praying for you.

If you are over the age 40 most Drs. Will give you a hysterectmy. I was just gonna have my uterus taken out due to same issues and when the Dr was in there he found Endomentris on my overies so he had to take them out. So ask your Dr about having half hysterectomy and go from there.

@A MyFibroTeam Member. Lavonne so sorry to hear about your terrible periods you are suffering from. My daughter who is 43 had a total hysterectomy (ovaries still in) last year for same reason. They tried a couple of other things first including the ablation, which obviously didn't work. Periods came back worse then ever. This is a decision to be really thinking about and getting 2nd opinion from other dr. is very wise. Also all those who have posted here gave you more info to work with.

My prayers are with you my dear Angel Lavonne. Know you will come to the right answer and all will be well as Our Heavenly Father will be watching over you and He knows you have enough to deal with regarding pain so whatever way you go you will be held in Jesus arm's to keep you strong and safe.

Lots of love, hugs and prayers to you my dear Lavonne.

God Bless and keep you safe.šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

I had it.done for hemoraging. Constant period for nine months. It was painless. But did not work well. Uterus lining can grow back. I had to get a hysterectomy anyway. It turned out to be a good thing as they took a sample before the surgery and it showed signs of cancer. You will be sore for several weeks but worth it.
