I read yesterday that fibromyalgia can be significantly reduced by eating five walnuts a day. This advice was proffered from a healthy person. I resisted the urge to wade in although my wife was furious. So, what crazy, insane, idiotic advice have you guys come across in your journey with fibromyalgia? I'm not talking about yoga or standard therapies, but totally out there suggestions? Thanks.

Members bonded over the absurdly unhelpful advice they've received for fibromyalgia, ranging from eating walnuts or plankton, being told it's all in their head or caused by breathing wrong, to suggestions to just exercise more or take a power nap despite debilitating pain and fatigue. Several members shared dangerous recommendations from practitioners, including refusing antibiotics for infections, while others described the frustration of being told to exercise when they could barely shower or move due to widespread arthritis and chronic pain. A recurring theme was the dark humor that emerges from these encounters, with members finding solidarity and comic relief in sharing stories that feel both infuriating and absurd, ultimately helping them feel less alone in their struggles.

^^^^^^ THAT ONE! and "If you'll just get out and exercise you'll feel so much better" has to be the one that infuriates me the worst. Im like, if I can hardly shower & dress myself, what makes you think I can lift weights & run on a treadmill for half an hour?

It sounds like you have been through the wringer and still fighting the good fight. Its easy for people to say but you look ok but they have no idea of the pain we have endured. God bless and i hope things get better.
