Has anyone ever tried cold laser therapy for your fibro pain and have any relief? I know some chiropractors claim they help with nerve pain.

Hey there,

I’m a qualified P.T.

The use of any cold/ice therapy is good for muscle recovery (I.e. pain, soreness, fatigue).

Ice also helps to reduce nerve inflammation which could be causing some of your pain.

Lots of people think heat is the answer to pain but it can actually make it worse if it is nerve. Heat eases pain for 15-30 minutes and then suddenly pain will increase rapidly and in most cases it will be worse than before because the nerve is more inflamed.

Try ice packs, showers or baths for relief. :)

@A MyFibroTeam Member Hello....nice to hear back from you. Yes, I went a few days ago. Everything went o.k. .....my lower back was done first then I sat in a chair to have the neck area done.
The laser for my neck etc. was a red light....I wasn't facing the light so didn't have to wear glasses to protect my eyes. The other laser for lower back wasn't red.
I will go back on Monday and Thursday of next week.....I've got to give it a chance and I know it will probably take multiple treatments. Was a little more relaxed in the upper back and that was a blessing.
I'm happy it is working well for you Janie........Won't be doing the acupuncture yet....decided to go through the laser therapy first and if that helps me I won't have the acupuncture done.
Will let you know how things are going. Good Luck to you....Hugs, Linda

@A MyFibroTeam Member Did you purchase your own for home use or do you have trreatments done somewhere? I've seen them for sale online and wondering what brand would work the best?

@A MyFibroTeam Member Hi.....Next week I am going for my first cold laser therapy treatment. Do you find that it is helping to reduce your pain level (even if just a little) My insurance doesn't pay for it either but like so many others we just want a little relief. Is it hard for you to lay still for 30-40 minutes as you posted? That might be a problem for me but the doctor reassured me that I could stop at any time if I needed to. He also does acupuncture and attaches electrodes to some of the needles. Have you heard of this? I've had regular acupuncture and it helped me but haven't had the electrodes connected. Anyway, would appreciate any info you can give me. Thank you, Linda
