Members rallied around someone struggling with severe sleep deprivation from fibromyalgia, sharing practical strategies that have helped them including warm baths or showers before bed, heating pads or blankets, turning off electronics an hour before sleep, stopping caffeine after 2pm, and using supportive pillows or mattress toppers to ease pressure points. Several members described medications and combinations that worked for them after trial and error, such as hydroxyzine, Ambien with muscle relaxers, amitriptyline, melatonin, and antihistamines like Benadryl, while emphasizing the importance of working closely with a doctor to find the right approach and ruling out conditions like sleep apnea. A recurring theme was the exhausting trial and error process of finding relief, the profound difference that even a few hours of restful sleep can make on pain and quality of life, and the urgent encouragement to seek medical help given the dangerous level of sleep deprivation described.

I have had fibro for 30 years and had many nights that i stared at the ceiling all night. Some people say that melatonin helps them sleep. It did not help me but it might help you. I started taking hydroxyzine for itch (it is a antihystamine), and i found it helped me sleep. This is one side effect that i am very glad i have from it. Talk to your doctor about something to help you sleep. I know how hard it is when yiu can't sleep. It makes it impossible to function and increases the pain. Good luck. Hugs

Stop caffine after 2 pm. Warm shower before bed. Advil or something of the sort if i feel achy to take the edge off. Lots of pillows to prop myself up or to lay on my side. Try lavender oil on your temples.

When a person gets this little sleep, their physical and mental health will suffer. But you're living this, so I'm not giving you any new information. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It must be agonizing. Please see a doctor asap, and don't drive yourself there. If this has been a pattern, then let the doctor know. They might want to run some tests and do a sleep study on you to get to the bottom of the problem and figure out what to do.

Don't lose hope. There really is a lot that can be done. God bless you. ❤

Warmth..propped up..my hands facing upwards tucked slightly under my buttocks..I do not get tingling hands this way..I can breath..pain less in my ba k. During the night I turn side to side due to pressure points on both sides. My eggshell sponge rubber on top of my mattress def helps..eases pressure points.

@A MyFibroTeam Member i was on amitriptylene but hated it, it made me feel stoned. As for the pain it did nothing, i took it for a year and never again.
