I have seen existing posts about vision issues that come about from having Fibro.
Does anyone have suggestions to minimize blurry vision?
My experience is like moments of vision loss and/or blurriness.
The Effects of Fibromyalgia on Eyes
BY BARBARA A. SMITH • AUG. 14, 2017
Fibromyalgia is a syndrome that causes chronic physical and mental problems including pain, fatigue and psychological distress. According to the National Fibromyalgia Association, symptoms also include sleep disturbances, headaches, skin sensitivities, dry eyes, dizziness, impaired coordination and vision problems. The effects of fibromyalgia on the eyes impact abilities to perform daily activities such as driving, especially at night, and detailed work such as sewing since the disorder can cause double or blurred vision.
Try some warm compressions on your eyes! Don’t sit staring at the tv or a computer too long! Avoid dry areas like beaches/ air con units etc anything that’s going to exacerbate the situation. Boots do a good range of eye drops for lubricating your eyes!
Always check your eye test is up to date
The symptoms can include blurred vision, double vision (diplopia), optic neuritis, involuntary rapid eye movement and occasionally, a total loss of sight. Problems with vision can result from damage to the optic nerve or from a lack of coordination in the eye muscles. The optic nerve connects the eye to the brain.
Fibro comes with regular changes to your prescription for your eyes. It all has to do with the nerves at the back oif your eyes and the changes that fibro has on them. Same with blurred vision. It is fibro and nerve related and we have no control over the changes.
I was hoping to see something about vision issues, not that I want it to happen or affect someones life, but here is my issues; involuntary rapid eye movement on occassion, blurred vision, and increase of poor sight very quickly. I did my yearly eye exam in September and started on my new prescription for multi focal contacts. I discovered yesterday while driving, I can not read the large size street sign, the ones that are up on the pole at the street crossing, until I am almost on top of it. Forget trying read the small street signs. In a 6 month time my vision decreased that dramatically. I have a 10 months worth of contacts that cost me over $200 for a years supply.
I am very thankful I have not experienced total loss. I have recently experienced control or coordination of my left eye. That has been freaky.
I never thought to let the eye physician know about my fibromyalgia. Anyone have any suggestions about seeing any type of specialist?
