Members connected over the frustrating reality of high cholesterol persisting despite medication like Zetia, with many discovering that their elevated levels were linked to genetic factors, inactivity from fibromyalgia pain, or the condition itself rather than diet alone. Several members shared practical strategies including switching statins (such as Crestor, Lipitor, simvastatin, or rosuvastatin), taking CoQ10 supplements to counteract statin-related nutrient depletion, adding probiotics for overall health, and making dietary changes like reducing dairy, gluten, sugar, red meat, and inflammatory foods while increasing organic vegetables and healthy fats. A recurring theme was the challenge of managing yet another health issue on top of fibromyalgia, the importance of advocating for medication adjustments when generics don't work as well, and finding community support in navigating the complex relationship between chronic pain, inactivity, and metabolic health.

Be sure to take Q10 supplements (check with doc first of course) as statins long term rob your heart of Q10 which is essential to your heart healthy.

I take simvastin and never had a problem but nobody told me to take it at night and why. It does say 'take in the evening' on the label so I do.
My grandmother gave me arthritis and I believe fibro, too. She had all of the same symptoms! @A MyFibroTeam Member A

Eat plain oatmeal, stay away from dairy, red meats, beans, lentils, green leafy vegetables, but a salad with oil and vinegar is okay, no grains, you can have boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, eggs, almond milk, hummus,
sweet potatoes, stay away from sugar, eat tuna, salmon, poultry, I have to look again but these foods are for Fibromyalgia and they help a lot.

And others who responded.
I don't think high cholesterol is hereditary in my family so I don't know why it affects me.
Just one more piece of the puzzle to explain what's going on with me.
So tired of just treating symptoms.
Love and hugs everyone.
