Will The Flu Make My Fibro Worse, Or Will My Flu Be Worse?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi. I’m relatively new to Fibro only being diagnosed this past fall and I’m terrified of this flu- like petrified!!! I’m scared I could
Die from this because I have Fibro. I did not get vaccinated because of all the bad things I’ve heard about the vaccine and having Fibro flare ups. I’m 27 and I otherwise healthy, but I know that this year’s strain is bad. Did any of you have it? Did it increase your inflammation? Did you get a secondary bacterial infection?? Please let me know ASAP. Thanks ❤️

Because the flu is so bad this season, I would recommend that you go get your flu shot ASAP. Flu season is usually October through March, but this year the flu will be extended for another month or so.
Flu vaccine this year is only about 36% effective. You might have one bad episode of 24 hours of bad pain but it is still worth it to not get the flu. Especially if you combine it with fibro. I had the vaccine in October and I did not catch the flu even though some family members have had it.
Go to your local pharmacist and get the shot. I'm not a big fan of vaccines but I think this one is worth it.

I don’t get the flu shot either. I’ve had a bad experience with that. Many are concerned about a fibro-flu. If you have fibromyalgia I say don’t worry about the flu. my flares are worse than any flu I’ve had. If you’re concerned build yourself up daily with magnesium, turmeric and other fibro-fighting things. Hugs

I had the flu shot and was fine from it. I just didn’t want anymore pain or feeling worse from the flu. But everyone is different. I have been getting the flu shot for the last 5 years.🙋😊

I would get the pneumonia vaccine while you are at it.

I always get a flu shot also however I have the flu now because the flu shot was only effective with 10 percent of people. My husband went and took care of his mom that had the flu. I asked him to wear a mask and gloves and he wouldn't so he brought it home to my son and I. Your fibro won't get worse but the pain does get worse until your over it if that makes sense.
