Members strongly agreed that emotional state directly impacts fibromyalgia flares, with many sharing that stress, feeling low, or even minor upsets can trigger increased pain and prolong flare-ups. Several members discussed their experiences with antidepressants like Cymbalta, Zoloft, and Lyrica, noting mixed results where some found mood improvement but limited pain relief, while others benefited from taking medications one at a time to monitor individual effects. A recurring theme was the importance of managing stress, avoiding dwelling on negative emotions, and researching treatment options thoroughly before starting new medications.

The minute something upsets me the pain goes higher. And it is over the most simple things. My nerves feel raw and like they are exposed ?? Cant really explain it

@A MyFibroTeam Member I looked up the drugs you mention and the names you used are for Egypt. In the U.S. and Canada the antidepressant you mentioned goes by the name Zoloft and the other drug goes by the name Lyrica. To get more feedback about those drugs on this site you might want to ask people what their experiences have been with Zoloft and Lyrica. Zoloft is one of the most prescribed antidepressants to in the world and Lyrica is widely prescribed for Fibromyalgia and nerve pain. I would research these as much as possible before taking them. They both have a lot of side-effects. If it were me I would try one at a time to see how each one affects me. Cymbalta is also an antidepressant which is commonly prescribed for those with Fibromyalgia.

I am also on Cymbalta but it was prescribed to me not as an antidepressant but 2 help with the nerve damage pain. But I guess it does somewhat help with my mood swings.

The weather affects mine. If it is rainy or cold I feel like a hundred year old woman. When it is warm I feel better but if it is too hot I get a headache and feel dizzy. It makes me very sleepy. I try not to let myself feel down because if I go there I might start feeling sorry for myself. It is okay for me to feel down or disappointed for a short time but I cannot let myself dwell on it. It does not trigger an attack for me personally. :)
