I'm only answering to your concerns about your dry mouth as I have that also. I haven't taken this med, but take many others that cause similar symptoms.
Biotene spray is very effective at relieving dry mouth during the day, and there are other products, too.
For dental hygiene, make sure to floss every day. I bought some simple dental tools to clean under the gum line, between the teeth, and scrape the tongue. I follow up by an herbal mouthwash. Of course I brush my teeth using a sonic tooth brush and Tom's toothpaste. I don't use the the big name mouth products because counter-intuitively they kill off the good bacteria in the mouth. My oral health really improved when I made these changes.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I was on Amitriptyline only for 1 year. My new neurologist took me off of it and I'm taking 10 mg of Melatonin just before I go to bed. It doesn't help as much as Amitriptyline but gives me about 3 hours sleep. Because of other medications I take I still had dry mouth so the Dr. Put me on Pilocarpine 3 times a day. It really works well. I hope this helps. Love and prayers that you and your doctors can find what works best for you☺

@A MyFibroTeam Member I am in the process of weaning off of Amitriptyline myself, with the help of my neurologist. I've been on 75 mg for about 7-10 years so he cut me down to 50 mg for the next few months, but my pcp said if I'm doing okay in a month or so to call him and see if I can cut it in half again. 🐧

I took it for many, many years and it stopped really working. My doctor gave me something else that worked well and I just made the switch.
