Members warmly welcomed a newly diagnosed 20-year-old into the fibromyalgia community, sharing personal experiences that ranged from diagnosis timelines taking years to symptoms often appearing much earlier than the typical 30s onset doctors mention. Several members offered practical guidance, including exploring supplements like turmeric and vitamin D to reduce inflammation, trying cognitive behavioral therapy or counseling to process past trauma, testing for Epstein-Barr virus as a possible trigger, and connecting with support groups or online communities for emotional support. A recurring theme was the importance of addressing both physical pain and mental health together, with many members emphasizing that past trauma can manifest as chronic pain, and that seeking therapy, forgiving when possible, and building a support network are essential steps toward managing fibromyalgia and reclaiming quality of life.

Sorry that you have fibro. I was 21 when I first had symptoms but it took 3 and a half years to get a diagnosis. At least now there is much more info on this horribly painful disease. If you look thru alot of the q and a on here, you will learn alot about living with fibro. The main problem for most of us is pain throughout our bodies. Also chronic fatigue. Most of us also have ibs (irritable bowel syndrome). You will find alot of strange symptoms that show up are usually fibro related. People on here understand what you are dealing with so don't be afraid to ask. Even if it is personal or odd.lol. we all try to answer the best we can, to help each other. You will see that this site is a godsend for us. I wish it was here when i knew nothing about it. I hope you look thru the question and answers. It will give you more info than anywhere else you look. I hope this helps and if you have any questions. Just ask. Hugs

@A MyFibroTeam Member. I am very glad that I took what you said wrong. Any kind of abuse is horrible. You really should write a book. Or you could just write your thoughts down on paper. I think that you help you to release some of what yiu have been thru. I hope you have a wonderful new year. Maybe make this the year that you heal your mind and start fresh. I am sorry that yiur father was not a good dad. You would probably be surprised at how many people would understand what you have been thru. I am sorry about the abuse you endured. The internet can be very helpful but can also be dangerous. I hope you will find someone to talk to about all of this. I would gladly listen if you did not live half way around the world. Lol. Take care of yourself. Hugs

@sevellaChloe. ebstein barr is the virus that causes mononucliosis. When i had it at 16, I slept 20 hours a day for 2 and a half weeks. I also had a bad sore throat and swollen glands in my neck. Alot of people had mono and never was diagnosed because they just thought it was a bad cold or flu. Do you remeber a time in your life that you were really sick and slept alot? The virus stays in your system and after a trauma, it shows up as fibro. This is what they are thinking is the cause of fibro. You can ask your doctor to test you for it. It will show up whether it is active or not. I am glad your gp pres all of your meds. I wish mine did. Look up medical medium on fb to see.what the doctor on there has written on ebstein barr causing fibro. I hope you have a great new year. I will probably be in bed by 10. Lol. Hugs

@A MyFibroTeam Member Welcome!! I think you will enjoy this site and learn so much from others as I have. Here are my 2 suggestions:
1. Check out the Q&A board for lots of answers. You can search by topic or just scroll through what's there. Click on the words "view all answers" to see more than what shows up at first.
2. Click on pictures of people and it will take you to their pages. Once there look for their "Story" to click and read more about them and their advice to others.
Enjoy! And feel free to ask more questions!
