Members connected over the challenge of managing diabetes alongside fibromyalgia flares, with many acknowledging the intense carb cravings that come from pain, stress, and the emotional comfort of a full stomach. Several members shared practical strategies, including exploring hypoglycemia as a contributing factor, using the ALCAT food allergy test to identify hidden triggers, trying supplements like Moringa for blood sugar support, and adopting a very low-carb or keto approach with natural sweeteners like coconut palm sugar instead of artificial ones. A recurring theme was the complex interplay of autoimmune conditions and how carefully tailored diets, often discovered through trial and error, can improve both blood sugar control and overall symptom management.

I crave carbs all the time but I haven't noticed an increase when I have flare ups. I will have to pay better attention. But I have heard that a lot of people who have fibro have hypoglycemia. Here is a site that knows all about it and might be able to help

I would look into the ALCAT allergy test. See what you are eating that might cause your thyroid/diabetes disorder. Mine was weird like food coloring, chlorine, vegtable oils and cane sugar. I Quit those and am doing better. I actually just bought the alcat one because its more precise and does herbs and molds too. When i altered my diet my autoimmune conditions improved drastically. I may have other allergies to foods that the IGG test didnt get. I bake now with date sugar.

I forgot about this question update if you have hashimotos that you have cannot have any artificial sweetener. I eat extremely low carb and blood sugars are lower . I even go as far as making keto recipes for those sweet cravings. I now use coconut palm sugar and slthough there are risks with that its better than the artificial sweetners almost killing me

I do, I think it has something to do with the helplessness you feel in the mid of a flare. A full stomach comforts you. I tend to binge when everything is happening. Medication helps only up to a point.
