Do Your Flare Ups Have Similarities

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brookfield, WI

I've been having the same flare up for a couple months. My hands and feet are the worst. They burn, itch, needles. They also get bright red and the veins look and feel like they could pop. I can't walk when it gets this bad. And it always seems worse at night.

Members connected over the question of whether flare-ups share common patterns, with many recognizing the severe burning, itching, and needle-like sensations in hands and feet described by the original poster. Several members suggested possible causes beyond fibromyalgia, including diabetic neuropathy, Raynaud's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, gluten intolerance, and the critical need to rule out blood clots when experiencing hot, red areas. A recurring theme was the frustration of having severe symptoms dismissed when lab results appear normal, with members offering practical relief strategies like ice packs wrapped in cloth, elevating affected limbs, and alternating hot and cold therapy while urging the poster to keep advocating for answers and proper treatment.

ice packs wrapped in a cloth so they don't touch your skin? then heating pad or bottle for few mins. alternate. I get those red areas and elevate legs and use ice to lower heat. all we can do is try different things until we find an answer. you will

I work with a co worker who had yjis with her hands, they also peeled. It was a gluten intolerance reaction. Yours sounds like RA to me, esoecially with both hsnds and feet. Hope the flare calms and pain eases soon. Gentle hugs.

@A MyFibroTeam Member thanks for your concern hon. Wanted to reassure you I've had a full work up on my heart and all is good. I had a blood clot back in 03' so I know what you mean they said it was so large that if it hadn't broken up by the time it hit my brain id have died. I didn't know my name, said I wasn't married. Thank God Sara wasn't born yet. Took months to get back on my feet. Wiped me out. Didn't want you to worry, I you see how concerned you were❤
