Here's a good one. I sleep horrible. I do not dream. Has this happened to any of you. It's most likely I don't get REM sleep. How does not dreaming effect you? Do you miss them?

I also am unable to remember recent things like what I ate for dinner or if I took a shower, but I have some of my childhood memories that are crystal clear. Like memories before and after this stupid condition. Anybody else?

Members overwhelmingly related to the struggle of poor sleep quality and severe short-term memory loss, with many uncertain whether fibromyalgia itself or lack of restorative REM sleep is the primary cause. Several members shared medications that have helped them sleep, including Trazodone, Lyrica, melatonin, and Klonopin, though experiences varied widely, with some reporting vivid or traumatic dreams and others waking up still exhausted despite medication. A recurring theme was the fear and frustration of memory loss so severe it raises concerns about dementia, paired with practical coping strategies like writing things down and seeking sleep studies, though wait times can stretch over a year.

I have a terrible memory. I really have to think hard on every day things - I say it is the Fibro fog - it is scary sometimes.

Yes this happens to me. Short term memory is horrible. Not having sleep with make it worse. Been to couple sleep clinics. They said I had insomnia and never go in REM sleep. I have been working with them trying different therapys but nothing has been helping a whole lot. I have to take medication to help me. I have tried many different kinds. Trazodone was my last one. Worked great taking higher dosage, however seemed the medicine seemed to stay in my system much later the next day, so I back down on them and it helped but didn't stay asleep for long.
Best of luck and hope you find something that works

Trazodone solved my sleep problem. I also have the short-term memory-loss problem.

@A MyFibroTeam Member. I'm on the wait list for a sleep study. It can take over a year in my city.

I'm having a terrible problem with short term memory, but if I had a conversation with you in 1986 I'll remember your face and everything said. I dream crazy for someone who can't sleep; my dreams are very vivid and based on reality. I often wo der if I've slept at all and I'm just having bouts of slight unconsciousness with a heavy dose of over-imagination.
