Hi! Lately I've been feeling very weak and sleepy during the day. And it's very bad, so bad that I can't control it and I ended sleeping a nap, but the nap takes about 5 hours or more. I can't drive because I'm afraid to fall asleep. I can work because I'm sleeping and Wen I woke up I feel very bad, tired and with pain. This is never happened to me before and I can't control it. Does anyone have the same problem?

Members connected deeply over the exhausting and uncontrollable daytime sleepiness that often accompanies fibromyalgia, with many sharing experiences of falling asleep for hours at a time, even at work or while sitting down, and struggling with zombie-like fatigue that makes daily tasks feel impossible. Several members pointed to poor nighttime sleep, pain levels, and medications as contributing factors, while also recommending practical steps such as checking vitamin D and B12 levels, ruling out conditions like Epstein-Barr virus, setting alarms for shorter naps, and staying as active as possible to fight through the fog. A recurring theme was the deep frustration of wanting to stay awake for work, family, and grandchildren but feeling powerless against the overwhelming need to sleep, met with compassionate validation that this exhaustion is real, shared, and worth investigating with a doctor.

Hi Lalis. I find my pain makes me very sleepy. I can feel ok and all of a sudden I get this huge feeling of tiredness and the need to sleep. Sometimes it is a short sleep other times it can be several hours. Hugs to you. 💕

No matter whether I'm.working or at home on a day off, I'm always ready for a nap by 2.30/3ish! Do manage to limit it to an hour and always set an alarm!

Yes, Lalis. Fibro makes you very sleepy during the day, or it did me. I have tired periods sometimes during the day. It was worse. I used to have be sitting on the couch or bed and have to have a nap.My head will actually start to fall forward and my eyes close where I am at. I have to stay busy at work or I am falling asleep. I am not sleeping well at night. That is one of the biggest problems with fibro is the inability to get a good night's sleep.
