I was wondering if anyone has had a whiplash, or a back injury, or an autoimmune illness, prior to getting fibro??
Ive had all of the above.
I've had spinal fusion in my twenties after a discectomy that collapsed and have herniated disk in several areas of my spine from the lower back to the neck. The one in my neck was smashing my spinal cord so they had to do a fusion 2 months ago. I was told that it would take care of the pain I've been having in my arms and possibly take care of the pain in my legs. It took care of the pain in my legs but my arms are getting worse. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 10 years ago and it's frustrating never knowing if the pain is due to my spine problems or from the fibromyalgia.
Yes I had a 3 level cervical fusion from a work injury at 38 and have never been completely out of pain since. This si my life now. Juggling pain meds. and dealing with flares. Not too much fun.
Yes, I was in 3 car accidents in less than 2 yrs. was told by dr. Was why I have fibro.
I've read a lot of research on fibromyalgia and they all say that back or knee injuries as well as stress such as the loss of loved ones, abuse, etc can lead to fibromyalgia and mainly in women even though some men get it to but not as many
So sorry to hear. Maybe any kind of shock to the system. I have Never been the same since a few close family members passed away all within 6 weeks. Only an observation from my life situations. Thinking of you at this time.
