Members shared their varied experiences with gabapentin for fibromyalgia and nerve pain, with daily doses ranging from 300 mg to 2700 mg and most finding meaningful relief when they stuck with it through the initial adjustment period. Several members described manageable side effects like weight gain, brain fog, and drowsiness, though a few experienced more serious reactions including shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, and mood changes that led them to switch medications like Lyrica or Pregabalin. A recurring theme was that gabapentin works best for neuropathic pain and requires individual adjustment, with many members realizing how much it truly helped only after stopping it temporarily or during flare-ups when the medication could not provide full relief.

Yes it helps keep most of my pain at bay. It doesn't stop that burning pins & needle pain that's goes across my upper back that's common with Fibro. It also does nothing for flare ups, I just have to ride them out.

I take it too it takes a few weeks for your body to get used to it so please bare with it... I take 2700mg that's 3x300mg 3x times a day and i be honest I had a side effect I couldn't live with shortness of breath and difficulty swallowing so I've been to see the GP and I'm now on day 2 of a reduced dose 1800mg 2x300mg 3x times a day and the side effects are so far manageable but I can take other top up meds for pain like Dihydrocodeine andnalroxen to help ease my pain but if I take them all I needs Day of rest as it's difficult to function/do anything xx

Base dose is 900 per day. I get relief with 3 x 100 per day.

I take 1500 mg a day, 300 mg morning, lunch, and about 4, then 600 mgs at night. This is still a low dosage. I didn't think it helped until i did a study and was taken off it for 6 months. When i started it back i realized how much it had helped.
