I personally don't think I'm imagining the aches n tiredness. My dr described it as an issue between the brain and the nervous system but some of those websites are just nasty. No wonder people are mean to fibromyalgia sufferers. . How do I find the helpful websites amongst all that?

Spirit, that doesn't change the fact that fibro is a physical illness and not just a stress response. Many illness are aggravated by stress but that doesn't mean they cease to exist simply by managing stress.
Spirit Walker, in the literal definition of the word, yes, fibro is aggravated by stress. In the sense that the OP (and the medical community) have used it, they mean "all in your head"/made up, which is definitely not true. There are many recent studies showing chemical imbalances and changes in nervous tissue in fibro patients. Very real physical aspects that are simply not a reasonable diagnostic tool at this stage.
Eden, a lot of that is simply that somethings will work for one person and not another. Every body is unique. I have very strange brain chemistry (according to 4 different doctors) because of all the weird issues I've had with meds they've put me on. There's a "do not prescribe" list of drugs in my chart because of it. Many of those are standard meds for my medical conditions but they don't work for me for whatever reason.
Very good advise. Did you mean to say that you avoid doctors under the age of 50? It would be the older ones who were taught "it is all in your head". I may have read your post wrong seeing as how I am upset this a.m.
My doctor is about my age, maybe a few years older. As time goes on, it will get easier to find docs because they are actually being taught about fibro in med school now.
