Do You Also Suffer Tinnitus?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm curious as to how many of us with Fibro also suffer tinnitus - mostly thinking of the ringing or high pitched sounds which are thought to stem from the brain, as opposed to the whooshing rushing sounds which can often be blood vessels close to the eardrum.

Mine personally is a mix of different pitched squeal/whistle noises, the same sound old TVs made when turned on.

Maybe there could be a link between Fibro and some kinds of Tinnitus. Wouldn't it be interesting to find out for… read more

Sandy - it might be worth trying white noise or brown noise on your phone to sleep, it can cancel out some of the noise and is a whole lot safer! Just plug your phone on charge and find a 10 hour white noise video and try it. Or you may even find one with the sound of a hairdryer!

Before I knew what it was, as a kid I thought it was normal. I couldn't sleep without classical music on (I was a classy kid) but never understood why. These days I put on something like a radio comedy and that seems to be enough of a distraction noise to work. I wish you the best of luck with it!

Thanks for the answers so far everyone!

i can not believe all of the things that ive read in just a matter of about 25 mins all of the things ive suffered for years and not ever had a single diagnosis for anything, its truly unbelievable how naieve or just really ignorant doctors can actually be regarding pain and disorders because besides a bad back ive suffered with for a lot of years which was probably only kept at bay due to me being extremely fit because of years of horse riding and competitions , i only found the one comfort i could by having my hair dryer on while i fell asleep dangerous as that may be would have been very sleep deprived if not for that droning noise to help keep all thoughts of anything else at bay believe me ive gone through hundreds of hair dryers and now i feel Quite relieved that i did icannot stand silence and absoluteley must still have some fan ov some sort on all thetime even now or it just cracks me up . i think that first started coz i could hear screching mixed with high nd low buzzing noises and got really angry when no-one else could hear them when i new they were there mostly at night. MAD OR WHAT. HAHAHA

I suffer from OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnoea), I've heard there's a link there with Fibro as well.

Yes, I have tinnitus. The volume will change throughout the day. I guess I'm use to it. Doesn't really bother me all that much. I dont remember what is was like before...
I have read somewhere that its not unusual for fibro sufferers to have tinnitus, so there most be some kind of connection.
I would love for it to be gone....
