What Are The Best Treatments Or Meds For Fibro?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Doctor appointment tomorrow and going to talk to the doctor about different and new treatments (doctor is kind of clueless about Fibro and is currently treating strictly with pain medication -and this sucks!)
What are better treatment options or meds that work for you for Fibro (and especially with the painstaking flare ups?)
Have never been properly treated since original diagnosis in 2012 !

No such medication or treatment exists - as in everyone is different in what will work for them and their own treatment options.

I've exosted all options open to me there doesn't exist a pain medication on the market that I can take that will help nor is their currently other options so for me it's called deal as best I can through medication/deep breathing and trying to keep positive.

No silver bullet for fibro. I have been on 375 Lyrica daily, but stress or too much physical activity when I feel good will cause a flare, usually in bed for one or two days. I have GAD, panic attacks and MDD, been through all the SSRI, tricyclic's with mixed results. I am back where I started with 90 cymbalta (living with the side effects) and just started serovin (anti psychotic) in low dose as an additive theorpy. getting better sleep with still have that hang over feeling in the morning for a few hours. Anagelsics, NSAID or opiates just don't work for the pain.

Really it is dependent on what symptoms you have.
Mild antidepressant - this isn't only for moods... this can help with pain, too. I don't have depression, bit was having mild anxiety... then discovered it helped with pain a bit.
Muscle relaxants - I hardly ever use myself due to sensitivity to them, but many people benefit from.
Anxiety medication if needed.
Nerve medication like gabapentin if having neuropathy.
There are meds like Cymbalta out there for fibro, it really just depends.
I would suggest adding one medication at a time and go with it for a few months before adding something else. That way you can discover what works and what side effects are intolerable.
Non impact excercise like yoga or water aerobics is beneficial as well.

I have found 2 books that are helpful written by a Dr diagnosed while in medical school..
Figuring out Fibromyalgia and the Fibro manual both written by Ginevra Liptan, MD. She has a fibro clinic in Portland, Or

Marijuana. High in CBD not THC. That way you don't get high and you have less pain.
