Members connected over the frightening experience of swallowing difficulties, with many sharing that food or pills sometimes get stuck in their throats or go down the wrong pipe, particularly with foods like pasta, sandwiches, bread, and chicken. Several members described practical strategies including always keeping a drink nearby when eating, getting a swallow study done by an ENT to diagnose dysphagia, trying soda water, and using products like Thick-It to make liquids easier to swallow safely. A recurring theme was the overlap with thyroid issues like Hashimoto's disease and GERD, prompting many to plan conversations with their doctors to better understand whether these symptoms stem from fibromyalgia or another underlying condition.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Oh yes! Another Fibro problem. I must have something to drink when eating or I will get choked every time. I have gotten choked so badly that I thought I was going to choke to death. Be sure to keep something to drink when you are eating. Hugs

I've always had to have a drink of water or milk (soda, tea) to help swallow whatever I was eating.
