Members shared their experiences with sciatica, with many describing how back injuries from falls, compressed discs, or physically demanding jobs like caregiving triggered debilitating pain radiating through the buttocks and down the legs. Several members found relief through stretching the gluteal muscles, physical therapy to strengthen back-supporting muscles, and spinal injections, though some noted the relief was temporary or that blood thinners like Xarelto made injections too risky. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of sciatic pain, with members describing periods of intense suffering followed by sudden improvement, and the profound impact on daily life, including job loss and constant pain cycling between the back, hips, and legs.

I have sciactica mainly on the left side. i feel like i have a stick poking hard into my butt cheek. I is debeilitating . Been dealing with it for years. Cant get my injections anymore because of xarelto. It has too many warnings about spinal injections. scares me to death but then again so do blood clots and i am not about to repeat that. please excuse any mistakes. i am not myself tonight

I have sciatica. I've had an injury to my lower back, then a period of gluteal injections, then worked a number of years in care (which puts a huge strain on the back) and a compressed disc in lower spune 3 years ago and more recently an mri scan showed a deterioration in the bones there. My upper back cracks all the time and is a huge source of pain, causing an irritated nerve in my neck.

So I do a lot of physical therapies that strengthen the back and muscles that support it and that promote correct posture.

Stretching out the glueal muscles really helps to relieve my sciatic pain.
