I am new to fibro. Diagnosed last month by neurologist after MRI, EMG, and numerous blood tests. I have pain off and on most days in my arms. Sometimes I feel muscle cramps or aches in my legs or my neck. But the muscle weakness is in my thighs. It reminds me of years ago when I would be intoxicated and my legs would feel weak. Then I have these muscle twitches, aka fasiculations. Mostly in my legs, but sometimes arms and back. Can anyone identify? Misery loves company.😏

Members deeply related to experiencing muscle weakness and fasciculations with fibromyalgia, with many describing sudden weakness in their arms and legs that makes everyday tasks like lifting milk or walking through a grocery store feel exhausting or nearly impossible. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them manage these symptoms, including taking magnesium and potassium supplements, drinking tonic water with quinine for twitches, trying physical therapy for neck and back issues, and getting nutrients through whole foods rather than relying solely on supplements. A recurring theme was the importance of ruling out other causes like herniated discs or medication side effects while also recognizing that stress can intensify fasciculations, with many members finding relief once they stopped obsessively worrying about the twitches and accepted them as part of the fibromyalgia experience.

I take a magnesium and potassium supplements to help with weakness, and tonic water with quinine for muscle twiches...4-8 ounces as needed.

I have spots where the weirdness will stay for days or weeks, just long enough for me to worry about it honestly. I've been on this merry go round for over 2 years. My aunt has fibro. She got it back in the 90s when few had a clue about it. She said she got new stuff all the time and would worry. After a couple years, she said she figured if it hasn't killed her by now, it ain't going to. Lol. I relate. Good example, I never had pain in my tongue or mouth or neck before until a few weeks ago. So my mind naturally goes to worrying cause it's new and all that. But I figure in a month, it will be something else. My advice is five it time. Try to focus on something else. I bet it will slow down.

It's only something that has just started happening for me, but I get this sporadically in my wrists, arms, and sometimes calves from knee down as I'm going to collapse. It's hard to know sometimes if it's Fibro related or Arthritis, but either way it's frustrating as hell.
I have had to wind my magnesium right back as the high doses I was taking were causing severe stomach upset, but maybe it's time to factor a bit more back in.

Thank you for the response. It’s just annoying because I get them in “hot spots” where it will stay in the same spot for a while.

I do. Do not worry about them. Trust me. It's stress. It is common in so many people, and it's stress. Then when you Google the cause, Dr. Google freaks us out, we get more stress, and more fasiculations. My best friend does not have fibro, and she gets them during periods of stress. My husband gets them. Nothing helped mine go away until I stopped worrying about them. Then one day I noticed they were gone. And they came back, but it's stress cause I have been in a flare.
