Has any one had to have a CK BLOOD TEST to determine how bad there muscles are? I thought muscles didn't get weak with fibro but yet I struggle to open bottled lids and I sometimes drop things :( also has anyone had low U+E levels I think it's to do with kidneys or liver, :(
Hi @A MyFibroTeam Member , I'm a doctor so I can give you a concise answer. CK stands for creatine kinase which is an enzyme existing normally in muscle cells. It's usually measured by doctors on a blood sample to detect muscle damage in people taking a type of drug called a statin for high cholesterol.
It is usually not affected by fibro so is usually normal. However it's often done to exclude other muscle conditions.
I have regular ck blood test but that's because I have an 'unknown' muscle disease on top of fibro if I do any muscle strengthening exercises my ck levels go to high and can end up in hospital. They may be wanting to check yours to see if there is anything else other than fibro x
@A MyFibroTeam Member can normal range CK levels vary from day to day? I've had my CK levels checked since March. In this order:
March - 71
April - 65
May - 50
September - 79
I have not changed my workouts/etc. All normal not even close to elevated but 79 is the highest it has been. just wondering if that's still okay or something to worry about
No I haven't
What is a Ck blood test never heard of it
