How Do You Stop The Bad /low Mood Of Others Around You Impacting You And Your Illness?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've noticed I'm like a sponge if someone around me is in a bad/low mood it puts me in that mood too, even if I was feeling fairly happy beforehand. This then has a huge detremental affect on my illness,I don't sleep properly,or eat properly,my body all tenses up causing the pain to be worse . I can't live my life completely away from others . Everyone has low moods from time to time sometimes over very trivial things .For example my other half was in a mood over a DIY job in the house that… read more

Get a mp3 player and some ear buds. Works for me. Music is great for the soul

Such a sad fact of life for a lot of us. I am especially susceptible to other people's negativity as well. This is why so many of us become hermits. It's easier than the constant fight to overcome outside influence. I agree with KellyLee to a point. Music in ear buds helps some, but you can't block out the world all the time and still be part of it. I try telling those close to me how their negative energy effects me but most of the time the wallowing in self pity just continues. I isolate as much as possible and just try to get through the rest of the time. Hugs.

I agree with everything said so far, silly things can trigger a bad emotion/mood, the trick is finding what works for you. There are various breathing techniques to help centre yourself and can help to a degree with pain, just like in childbirth but without the end result. One I use is breathing in slowly to the count of 4 imagining breathing in good pure healthy energy and exhaling slowly first to the count of 4 then 8, 12, 16 etc breathing out the pain the bad feelings/emotions to make space for the next lot of good energy. This can help with an array of situations (I've used it for anxiety and helps with mindfulness too).
Hope this helps someone gentle hugs and tender wishes to all xx
