Members shared their experiences with severe foot neuropathy, describing nighttime pain, burning, tingling, and the desperate search for relief that often disrupts sleep and daily life. Several members found varying degrees of help from medications like gabapentin, Neurontin, tramadol, and Requip, with doses ranging widely depending on individual needs, while practical strategies included cold compresses, keeping feet warm, wearing cooling socks or flip-flops, using heating pads, and running shower water over feet. One member discovered through a podiatrist visit that their pain stemmed from damaged ankle nerves rather than neuropathy, finding hope in steroid injections and the possibility of surgical nerve repair, highlighting the importance of getting a proper diagnosis rather than assuming all foot pain is neuropathy or fibromyalgia.

I have neuropathy in my feet and have had it for many years. I take Gabapentin which does help (have been on it for years) but with the colder weather I am finding the pain in my feet is harder to bear.

I went to podiatrist yesterday. He said he doesn't think I have neuropathy because the tingling is not in my toes. He thinks I have damaged nerves in my ankles. Got 2 injections on inside of both ankles. Steroid one short term & one 5-8 days. He wanted to see if this solves the problem & if it does he said he can fix the nerves. So am hopeful. The pain is some less than before injections so will see what the next week brings. Hope this helps some of you - maybe you have nerve damage also - worth getting it checked. I've suffered for many years thinking it was just fm.

By the way, heat makes my pain worse so rarely wear socks at night.
