Mucinex And Guaifenesin
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

What is everyone's experience with taking mucinex and/or Guaifenesin for Fibro?

I just took Mucinex for a chest cold and after taking it, I felt great. More energy, no pain. I didn't know what to think.

Can my rheumatologist just prescribe Guaifenesin instead of taking Mucinex all the time?

Yes and you don't need a prescription for guaifenesin you can buy it from Marina Del Rey Pharmacy they have the one you want is 600 mg

I think it helps a lot and you can buy mucinex without all the other cold remedies. Plain mucinex is guafeninsin and the rheumatologist would be giving you the exact same thing. I guess the only benefit would be that your insurance would help with cost?

You also have to follow a strict set of rules for it to work. A lot of foods or body products can't be used.

Guafenisin seems to help some people a lot and others not at all. If it works for you talk it over with your doc.
