@A MyFibroTeam Member I will agree with @A MyFibroTeam Member I had severe childhood abuse, my sister also.... EMDR with my Dr. works, I wanted to end it all, and I also am multiple. Fibro is real, and I am a survivor, It helps so much! I am so amazed, I enjoy it now. It is very soothing to the mind and body. I have worked for so many years to overcome! I will not let it take me down. It is an investment we owe to ourselves. God Bless you tenderly and gently!
Been there. They say ( medical literatures) that there is a connection between the two.
I think like someone else said it's probably
not " a" one kind of abuse but probably any or all traumas caused by abuse , as our cells have a very long and good memory of everything in our body.
To me they are grasping at thin air on that one.
Therapy is the best help you can give yourself if you have suffered any abuse in the past.
EMDR is a real good therapy to get if your therapist is knowledgeable about how to experiment with that subject as it dilutes the past disruptive memories.
As an exemple , I would say that if you write the number 3 on a piece of paper and look at it ,then make the number 8 with the number 3 you just wrote , you will not be able to see the number 3 you wrote as it merged in the new number you just wrote.
It does the same with any disruptive memory you might have of any trauma.
It was a real miracle therapy for me.
To this day my flash backs, intrusive& vivid images and memories of what had happened to me about 20 years ago have almost disappeared all together. Or at least they are so diluted that only forced recollection brings the trauma back to my conscious mind.
It's hard work to do this kind of therapy but we are so worth it in the end.
No one should have to live with any kind of abuse ever.
It eventually worked even for my retired (PTSD trauma from the Rwanda genocide trauma) military husband.
It's an investment we owe to ourselves.
Good luck.
the specialists say that FM sufferers had childhood trauma(s).
Authors for you: Dr David Brady, Dr Neil Nathan, David Dryland/Lori List, Dr Jacob Teitelbaum, Ginevra Liptan, Dr Paul St Amand, Debra Fulghum Bruce/Harris H. McIlwain.
When doing research for my son's FM, I've encountered many reasons for the onset of FM that include psychological stress, physical injury, surgery, and vaccinations. These things all have one element in common: they are all a stressor to the body. The findings have also included a childhood that was traumatic in some form. Dr David Brady has a book called The Fibro Fix and I really encourage you to read it. It has enlightened me. I have read other books as well (went to the library and typed in FIBROMYALGIA. Most of the authors said exactly the same thing. Dr David Brady has cured 67% of patients that were misdiagnosed by other doctors as FM but turned out to be something else. Knowledge is power.
Yeah... 5 years bullying in a school I shouldn't have been in, causing estrangement from my family who I had to return to after the school... which started a whole cycle of abuse with my father and later with my younger brother when he grew up, and still going (though at least now I don't have to live with them and can avoid them)
Then there was my ex wife and disastrous near death experience of marriage...
My GP sent me to see a shrink who diagnosed PTSD but then doubted their analysis because I was in their words 'too neutral and calm when discussing it all' but what else should I be? The bad dreams and anxieties etc may stick with me but the events that caused them, though living in me to this day, are past... they've happened already (nothing short of time travel can change that) but that doesn't mean I don't often struggle to keep them just under the surface (I spend a lot of time alone, that is when the lid comes off the jar and the serpents crawl free)
But what am I going to do... go all Incredible Hulk like rage monster in the doctors office? C'mon...
