I have noticed that when I am on a course of steroids for a sinus infection that my pain in greatly decreased, and have tried a maintenance dose of 10mg but this was not as effective. My doctor puts me on a taper course every few months and it is great. Just wondered if anyone else has used steroids and if you are on any type of maintenance program that works to help reduce the pain.

I'm on steroids right now for Giant Cell Arteritis. Diagnosed sept 9th and put on 50 my per day to help prevent blindness and control symptoms. That high of a dose was brutal. I gained weight like crazy in 1 month and my face and abdomen got puffy quickly my skin hurt so bad to have stretched so fast without time to adjust. Made me feel just awful and causes insomnia. After 3 months I'm now down to 15-20 mg alternating each day. I have found that it had really helped my arthritis symptoms. I don't have as much pain in my joints but migraines are the same and Fibro the same. But having low arthritis pain has helped me regroup to handle Fibro pain. Will have to stay on steroids for 9-12 months for my Giant Cell Arteritis. But continuing to decrease dose hoping for minimal amount to control symptoms. Hope this helps. Gentle hugs and God bless.

Steroids in general are not good on the body and can cause a whole host of problems, but that being said some people do not have a choice.
