Members opened up about depression and fibromyalgia, with many sharing that they experienced depression and anxiety either before their diagnosis or found both conditions worsened significantly after fibromyalgia began affecting their lives. Several members described practical coping strategies that help them manage darker days, including daily Bible reading and church connection, therapy and antidepressants without shame, creating uplifting music playlists, journaling positive quotes, and actively challenging negative thoughts when they arise. A recurring theme was the deep understanding that chronic pain naturally feeds depression, the frustration of others not truly grasping their daily struggles, and the fierce determination to keep fighting for light even when pain tries to pull them into darkness.

I have had chronic depression and anxiety for years, even prior to the onset of the FMS. I take anti-depressants. Don't be ashamed of this or be embarrassed to talk about it. Mental illness is just as real as physical illness. Hope you get help.
