Prozac

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone know how effective Prozac is after taking for over 25 years? My physician has no idea and this was not comforting. I tried Effexor, Pristine, cymbalta, citalopram, every ADHD medication...over three years...and I am back on Prozac I feel a bit flat, less emotional but better.

Im the same. I don't take anything. I was put on antidepressants and nearly went crazy from them. Came off them after 2 months. Not to mention the weight I put on from them. Like that I push myself and won't give in but I do get pissed off that my body always has an ach. If I didn't wake up with a pain I would think I was dead. I won't give in to it. Sitting at the moment with a heat pack on my back, neck and shoulders. I have had 2 weeks where I could hardly walk. Sleep is at a minimum. But I will carry on coz to be honest I've had worse days.

I cannot take any meds as i find everythi ng i take just over reacts and makes me feel worse with side effects..i am getting by each day just listening to my body although i do push myself to hard some days and very much suffer for it, but it is about not letting it beat you and mine is also about fear of giving in to it ..so why i have breath in my body i will keep pushing through x

Effexor works good for my anxiety . I am also type 2 diabetic with spinal stenosis and arthritis. I find Lyrical helps with burning in feet. Most meds I took for fibro did nothing but make me sleepy' felt in a fog. That was miserable and try to be alert at my job. I am retired now, and have good days and bad days.

I have been taking both Prozac and effexor at the same time and they seem to work. I still get relapses but at least I do get a little break between then and the pain between them is very manageable sometimes I can almost feel normal with little pain. Also if the pain increases my doctor increases the dosage.

I hear you. That's all the doctors want to do is presrib tbis drug or that drug or a combination of drugs. I too went off all and are finding alternative treatments, natural remedies. You have to try things and see what works for you.
