My sister and I will preparing dinner this year both me and my sister have fibromyalgia and are both on this site. My niece will be helping us as well. Shopping has been done alot online plus in stores. But the way I figure it Thanksgiving and Christmas come just once of year.
We are very fortunate that our children took over the holidays several years ago. Both my husband and I have chronic illnesses for 20 years this year. They decide who is having Christmas and Thanksgiving. We make a couple favorite recipes to add to the meal and the host house does the rest.
Our son and daughter in-law are hosting Thanksgiving this year. They live out of town so we will probably pack up and stay one or two nights. My husband likes to get in on the kitchen activity. He usually makes his delicious stuffing recipe but have to see if he is up for that this year. I get to spend time with our two granddaughters and their other grandma until the rest come and then the fun really begins. Six grandchildren and two large doggies all excited and happy to see each other. Full of new memories waiting to be made.
I'm ordering online items. And I'll buy Christmas bags and tissues paper instead of wrapping. It's better for my hands. I'll go out for short trips to the store only if needed.
I have everyone bring a covered dish for thanksgiving and Christmas. I supply meats and drinks.
We are in the UK so we don't have the hassle of Thanksgiving. However I have been shopping for the last few months, mainly on line but sometimes in stores or unusual markets like the European Christmas one we have in town at the moment, and I love vintage fairs if I feel up to going.
I have most of my wrap and cards, the decorations are taken care of and this year I won't be making dinner for the first time for ages as we are going to our youngest son's house.
My husband usually cooks a full English breakfast here on Christmas morning for all the family, all out son's, daughter's their other halves and grand children come here about 9.30 (there is about 28 of us in total) we have breakfast then we all exchange all our gifts (the amount of gift wrap left behind is massive, it sure fills the recycling bins). Then we all go out different ways, they go off to visit their in laws and we just settle down for a while.
But our son is making breakfast there and then doing dinner for about ten of us.he has just moved into this new house and I think he wants to show it off a a bit ha ha. I am not complaining though, in fact I am looking forward to it and as they know I tend to get tired they have put a spare bed in Serge's room in case I need to rest.
However you all celebrate Thanksgiving or the Christmas Holidays I hope you all have fun and are able to spend it with the people you love.
Love and gentle hugs to everyone

I always let my family help with as much as they can. I have most of the shopping for gifts done since i've been picking up things for months already. My kids will all come to my house for the party. Everyone brings something. I make the meat but the kids help when the get here. We keep it simple so no one has to work too much and everyone can enjoy the day. The idea is to enjoy getting together not to make it so hard that no one has fun. All other parties are attended for just a short time because I get tired easily and everyone is aware of this and is just happy that I can make it at all.
