They test your lungs with spirometry, which is blowing into a machine, and if you need future testing you will have a plethmography, a clear box where you blow again into a box, all of it is non invasive, you can have a bronchoscope which is a look down in your lungs through a scope run thru your nose into your lungs. The first test is spirometry which test your lung volume and your ability to hold air. If that test shows real issues they will do a phethmography. It is a clear box you get in and the barometric pressure is perfect, and they do the test again. It gives the pulmonologist lost of information about your lungs. I have had both, and discovered I had severe asthma, and restrictive lung disease from the Lupus and Sjogrens. A non-invasive test. Hope this helps!!!

I have severe lung issues and it was diagnosed by Spirometry first and if it is out of range, there is Pethmography, a clear box that you sit in and it has perfect barometric pressure and they test you blowing like the spirometer, then they did a bronchoscope which is a camera, run down your nose into your lungs to look around at your bronchia.
