It is very true, one must be every careful taking high dosage of any antiinflammatory medication like ibuprofen can and does affect your kidneys and liver. I was on 800 mg 4 tines a day for years and the a*# doctor that prescribed it one day after reviewing my labs asked me if I was a closest alcoholic for my kidneys and liver functions where bad. So to say the least I walked out and found a different doctor. That new doctor sent me to a specialist that was training other doctors in regards to long term effects of non steroidal, anti-inflammatory, and opioid medications. It took 2 years to get my labs back up to a healthy level again.
Just be careful and ask a lot of questions about medications. Good luck!
I take Naproxen for headaches and costochondritis but you must use Omeprazol with it to line your stomach if your using it for a long time... good luck
I was on Naproxen consistently for my first year after diagnosis. I was told it was a better anti inflammatory than ibuprofen and works better for fibromyalgia or muscle and nerve pain. I never had any problems with the drug however was taken off it as consistent use increases blood pressure and risk of blood clots. I wanted to go on the contraceptive pill and was told I had to come off it. Honestly I've not noticed any difference.... in a good way! The pain is as it was when I was on it - still manageable. Message me if you have any questions. 😊
I just recently came off all my opioid meds and was asking my doc about a naproxen script. She didn't recommend it for two reasons. Hard on the stomach in any quality or long term and it tends to cause rebound cycle pain and none of us need that. So, stick with Tylenol and don't go over 4grams a day. And stay off the narc as much as possible because it interuptive our sleep cycles and increases anxiety. What a mess!
I used to take Advil liquid gels like candy before I was diagnosed and they really helped but now nothing. Tylenol and Aleve don't do anything for me. My pharmacist said for the really bad pain alternative ibuprophen and acetametaphene. Haven't tried it yet. I have to be very careful due to my stomach issues.
