Members responded to someone experiencing stiff, swollen, painful fingers and loss of grip strength by strongly encouraging them to get tested for rheumatoid arthritis, as these are classic RA symptoms that many in the thread have experienced firsthand. Several members shared practical coping strategies, including using rubber jar openers from dollar stores, taping affected joints to allow them to rest, wearing compression or magnetic fingerless gloves, and applying medicated patches before bed. A recurring theme was the overlapping nature of fibromyalgia, RA, and other chronic conditions, with members emphasizing the importance of proper testing and diagnosis rather than assuming symptoms are just part of aging or fibro alone.
