What Do You Do To Ease Your Pain When It Gets Really Bad? E.g. Which Meds Do You Use And What Other Methods Help You?

I take Norco 10-325 and Baclofen for pain. I also take cymbalta and prozac for depression and cymbalta helps with the pain. And I use a TENS machine and lidocaine as a topical treatment. Sometimes a heating pad is good and sometimes ice works nicely.

Members shared a wide range of strategies they use to manage severe fibromyalgia and chronic pain, including muscle relaxants like Flexeril, Zanaflex, and Baclofen, pain medications such as Norco and Tylenol #3, and anti-inflammatory options like ibuprofen. Many described comforting non-medication approaches that bring relief, including hot baths with Epsom salt, heating pads or blankets, ice packs, TENS machines, topical lidocaine, gentle movement, rocking in a recliner, prayer, and activities like reading or crocheting to stay mentally engaged. A recurring theme was the determination not to let pain win, the trial-and-error nature of finding what works, and growing concerns about access to pain medications due to changing prescribing guidelines and insurance limitations.

@JohnsonKI - hey thanks! I didn't take very long to see the value of this site! Baclofen is muscle relaxer and is good for me since I am 60. Flexeril is reported to cause dizziness and falling in people over 60 so my dr would not prescribe it. With all the falls I have taken in the last 6 months I am glad she didn't give me that one!

Rocking in rocker/recliner, heating blanket/pad, reading, crocheting, et sometimes even forcing self to move more when pain is soo bad d/t I'm not letting fibro kick my butt as much as it can et has been. Hot bathes in Jacuzzi tug also:) If none of that works et ready to cry (which takes a lot for me) Tyl #3 et Valium just to take the edge off.

@A MyFibroTeam Member - yes I have fibro...also 3 herniated discs, arthritis, bursitis, chronic pain syndrome. I had to sign a contract and give urine specimen when asked. No alcohol and no cannabis. Just like @JohnsonKI said. What is CDC guidelines??

do you have Fibromyalgia? I was taken off the Norco May 2016 due to CDC guidelines implemented in my pain management office.

I've been given valium to add as needed. It doesn't do anything about the pain, but I don't care. It's weird. I feel it but it doesn't bother me. I also make very rude comments, which my daughter thinks is hilarious. X
