So yesterday I got told I have Sciatica.
Anyone else suffer with this?
Anyone got any tips for coping with it?
At the moment I am able to walk very slowly, I can't sit unless I have my right foot under me, I can lay on my back, and can only spend a limited time on my left and right side. Sleep has never been great but now I'm unable to get more than 10mins at a time.
A&E gave me codeine last night and have told me to get more from my GP which I have requested this morning and should have… read more

Oh yes, walking on hard surfaces can cause your sciatic nerves that run up your legs into your lower spine, and down the back of your spine as well as to the underside of your feet. You can 1. Eat bananas for potassium. 2. Rest, 3. Get restless leg stuff at Smiths,4. Get a moist heat bean bag/pad that you can throw in the microwave for 1 minute, it helps to reach the deep inner bone pain
Yes I suffer sciatica too and coincidentally it is giving me a lot of pain and discomfort for the last couple of weeks. It is painful and like you my leg is affected too. The pain is like you have a stun gun hit at you as it just stops you in your tracks without warning, I Also get pain in my groin which is also uncomfortable. Apart from taking my usual prescribed medication I use Aloe Vera Heat Lotion by Forever Living you can purchase it at Amazon and EBay if you don't know a consultant. It is very effective wouldn't be without it. Hope your pain eases off a little xxx take care
The absolute best thing I've done is get in the pool. It has kept me out of back surgery for 17 years (but now it's time). Start out walking slow, heel toe, heel toe. then backwards toe heel, toe heel. It takes some time but it is the only thing that helped me. hanging in the deep end helps relieve the pressure also.
I suffer with sciatic also. I also have facet joint syndrome which irritates the sciatica. I have been getting injections through anesthesia pain Doctor. I will be going in again next week for another injection guided by fluoroscopy
Thanks I'm my own worse nightmare and push myself to far all the time. I need to learn to slow down x
