Hormones Or Fibro?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

ok, I am in perimenopause and now I have a fibro diagnosis I don't have a clue as to what is hormonal and what is fibro. Previously I thought it was all hormonal although my emotional crying and anxiety is far more extreme than it ever used to be.

Is the bad memory and brain fog fibro or hormonal. Are the mood swings and crazy emotional crying at the slightest thing hormonal or fibro.

Anxiety - have had all my life but never all encompassing and over such small things.

I had a hysterectomy a few years ago. From what I could tell anytime I was menstruating it made my anxiety/mood/emotions run rampant, which could be flaring up your fibro. Keep a symptom diary everyday for two months, then look back at the times you were on your period to see the difference in your pain. I hope this helps.

I think it is a combination of both, its prob fibro made worse due to hormonal changes. I know i get a flare up just before my monthly's.
Try hang in there. Sending gentle hugs

Beats me how to know which is which. I'm post menopause due to surgery. I'm not sure if it's possible to determine what is causing what. I've found that taking estrogen and black cohash are helping me. But really, we're such a tangled mess of things all we can do sometimes is treat the symptoms. I guess if it eventually goes away (in about 5-10 years) then it was menopause! Isn't that comforting! ;) Hang in there!
