Members connected over their shared experiences of hair loss with fibromyalgia and ME, describing a range of issues from general thinning and brittle texture to full bald patches requiring wigs, with many noting increased shedding during flares or times spent in bed. Several members explored possible underlying causes, including vitamin D deficiency, thyroid issues, medication side effects, stress, and pre-menopausal changes, though some found hair loss persisted even after vitamin levels normalized. A recurring theme was the frustration of not knowing the exact cause, with members offering solidarity and practical suggestions like anti-breakage products and checking thyroid function.

I have always lost a lot of hair everytime I wash it I have thin brittle hair the only time it is thick is when I had a perm and got away not washing my hair everyday if I don't it looks like I haven't washed it in weeks and its only 24hrs.i can have a hand full each day and in some parts it can look like I have bald spots but I also blame a fire accident I had when I was 14 my hair has never been the same since.

Do you have a sore scalp? Every time I touch it or rub my scalp it has like a burning weird sensation that can be painful

Yeah, my hair thins out in the summer and my fringe becomes non existent. I didn't know if it was because of the medication or stress or my age approaching pre-menapausal. I use anti -breakage hair products. Also because l spend a lot of time in bed my hair is thinner at the back.
