Hi, I Would Like To Know From My Team, Which Foods Do You Find Trigger Your Fibro Pains?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, I would like to know from my team, which foods do you find trigger your fibro pains? I have a sneaky suspicion that chocolate does it & orange juice, just from recent experiences. I think I need to start cutting things out but I don't know where to start. Xx

My Rheumatologist says that most of our triggers come from issues with our gut. Most infections begin there. She recommended I take a probiotic everyday and fiber if needed for IBS D symptoms. If you do these, you will help decrease the amount of inflammation and pain naturally. Good luck, warm gentle hugs

I have been reading a lot about fibro & food triggers : " living with fibromyalgia " by Christine Craggs-Hinton is written by a lady who has lived with this since 1991.
While reading I decided to not eat chocolate for a few weeks ( hard for a chocoholic ), then earlier this week I had a real craving & ate 2 small bars. Later that day I noticed my pain had increased generally all over, but with me, my arms, wrists, hands, fingers get the worst pain, & that afternoon I had the deep burning muscle pains in all those areas & joints too. I was forgoing chocolate to try lose bit of weight rather than an experiment. And since that day I'm struggling to get my pains under control, whereas usually my nighttime amitryptoline leaves me without pains until about 4pm. So I think there must be a link there.
And a few weeks ago I had orange juice in the morning, for the first time in many months, and by lunchtime my pains were back with a vengeance. The lady in the book, talks about a link between acid, sugar & gluten with fibro xx

From what i have read, people with fibromyalgia or autoimmune disorders often suffer from a leaky gut. So you are looking at basically anything that causes food allergies. Only for us (fibro patients) it is more like a sensitivity. The difference? Well with a sensitivity if you take the culprit out of your diet for about 6 months, you can eventually add it back in. By what you are saying, you probably have a sensitivity to sugar. Now there are multiple kinds of sugar so it could be one or all. I myself have found that a paleo diet works because my sensitivities seem to be gluten, dairy, and sugar. When I did the whole30 challenge, my digestive system changed for the better! I felt soooooo much better. Didn't help with the pain, but my chiropractor seems to think that if I stay off those triggers for longer, the pain will eventually fade out a bit as well. The reason? Because food allergies and sensitivities cause inflammation. And current studies of fibro patients show that the fascia tissue that surrounds our muscles are inflammed and that is the main source of our pain. So, I would recommend you talk with your doctor about an elimination diet or ELISA/ACT blood testing. The blood testing is expensive but can help determine food sensitivities. *I am not a doctor, just like to do my research to help find ways to improve my quality of life*
