A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello. I'm 20 years old and I've never had vision problems until last year. They say things like that happen at my age although it is less frequent. I was wondering if anyone has experience vision change because of the fibro (to know if mine could be caused by fibro). I see blury from far (myopia).

There's an eye disease called Fuchs' Corneal Dystrophy, your eye gets real blurry, see halos around lights, night vision is terrible and your eyes itch and burn like you have sand in them!!! My sister and my mother had this disease! They both also had Fibromyalgia! I was diagnosed with Fibro in 1997, in about 2005 I was diagnosed with the same eye disease! In 2009 I had to have a Cornea transplant with a donor cornea!! I will have the other eye done soon! You usually have it in both eyes! The thing is that many who have the corneal eye disease also has fibromyalgia! You might read up on it if your eye problem continues! You might write down the name and also ask your eye doctor!!!! More people have it than we know!!!!

I'm not a doctor but I did a lot of research besides I had my body to give me answers since I had children to raise and other people needed my help. There are TrP's (trigger receptor points) can occur in any of the extrinsic eye muscles.Misalignment of the eyes may be caused by TrP's contracting the muscles that holds the eye ball in place. If these muscles contract at different amounts of tension, that could cause vision irregularities. To check your inner eye muscles, stretch them.Put one hand on your head, above the forehead
Then try to look at your hand. This shouldn't hurt. If it does, its the TrP's in your muscles telling you that they are there. Its a good sign because it signifies the presence of contraction and TrP's.Splenius cervices TrP's can also cause blurring of near vision.
If you have problems do eye excerises. It will improve your vision and ease the pain.

I think the Cymbalta or/and Lyrica contributes to my crazy vision issues.

I feel my eye sight is getting worse. I've never had a problem with my eyes and I'm 33. I had an eye test in April and said it was recommended that I got some for close up work, I could read the very bottom line on of very small print. I decided i would get some cheap glasses anyway, and need to wear them all the time now. But i was only diagnosed in April with fibromyalgia too

It's not normal for a 20 year old to have sudden eye problems.Their are TrPs in the internal eye muscle. The fight that the eye has to make to attempt to accommodate the inaccurate and changing visual field.Motor Coordination problems, the Sternocleidomasoid (SCM) trigger points occur in the neck can cause the group of muscles the following problems: redness, dizziness, imbalance, tearing, bug-eyes, blurred or double vision, floaters, internal eye muscles TrPs, inability to raise the upper part of the eyelid, a dimming of perceived light in density, spatial disorientation, and vertigo. For vision to be clear, both eyes must take the same picture at the same time. When this doesn't happen, vision problems result. If the muscles are being contracted at different amounts of tension, that could cause all the irregularities. Muscle fatigue makes it worse. The culprits may be the TrP's in the extrinsic eye muscles. It's possible to improve vision problems with eyes excerises and will also ease pain.
