Depression goes hand and hand with fibro. Fibro is mainly a nerve disease right?? Okay well when we are depressed our bodies are basically all out of whack to say the least...and stressed out right?? Well the more you are stressed out the more stress that puts on your body causing you more pain!! Does this make any sense?? So there for if you are having depression issues get those taken care of first..it might not make much sense now but it will pay off in the long run I promise!! Once you start to feel better in a few weeks from that then turn to the Fibro issues... and it might take one than one try @ a med before you get the one that's going to work for you...I've been in your shoes and it took me 8 different types of medicines before I got the right combo for me...it's not a perfect combination but it helps! Amitriptyline is more of an anti anxiety drug. Its an ssri and can help with depression as well. I have been taking it for 12yrs.50mg at nitetime. I am currently going through rough withdrawal from cymbalta(duloxitine). Amitriptyline needs some time to build up in your system, so I would give it 2-3weeks to see if it helps. Hugs

I am on Amitriptiline. My neurologist put me on it for my dizziness and it seems to work. I only take it at night and it does make me sleepy but it doesn't matter as I am ready for bed. I take savella instead of cybalta and I find that combination is pretty good with me
