I have been on CPP Disability since 2005. I got hurt at work and during my waiting for three surgeries, WSIB were complete jerks and cut me off so many times and I had no income coming in. I decided to try for CPP and of course the first time I got refused. I had applied in January and got my refusal letter in July but didn't know what to do to appeal it. I just sat down and wrote a six page letter about how my life had changed and how shitty it was!!! This was in like 2010 or so and I got a letter Dec. 22 saying I was approved. What a Christmas present! They back paid me all the way to 2005 although they had said they would only go back two years and my daughter also got $200/month until she finished school. I have to say they are the nicest people I had ever dealt with compared to WSIB and they didn't treat you like an idiot. They are so competent, I had all my money by Jan 10 or so and have had no problems since! Everyone gets turned down the first time from what I understand so just write them a letter of appeal telling them how your life has changed so much and how you are in constant pain everyday!! There is also assistance called ODSP which I think is just Ontario, but it is a temporary thing to help with money til you can maybe get back to work but you also get dental, prescription and eye glass coverage! If you aren't from Ontario, they may have something like it in your province that can help you out as well. Like I said, they are the nicest people to talk to and even though I finally won my case against WSIB and I'm pensioned off with them til I'm 65, I still collect CPP until I'm 65 also unless I were to go back to work. I truly wish I could just work and get my life back but I don't see that happening anytime soon! If you have anymore questions, feel free to message me as that is the only way how we find things out is by talking with people! I never knew you could collect WSIB and CPP Disability at the same time but you can and only found this out through word of mouth through friends! Good luck with whichever one you go after and I hope you get it quickly! I have been through everything so I do happen to know quite a bit from all my stressful years! Lol
