Members enthusiastically embraced the idea of opening a charity shop specifically for fibromyalgia research and awareness, with many expressing support for bringing visibility to an illness they feel is underrepresented on high streets and often misunderstood as just another form of arthritis. Several members offered practical suggestions, including partnering with existing arthritis charity shops to display fibromyalgia brochures, starting with online platforms like eBay, organizing car boot sales for local awareness, and creating a welcoming space with seating and refreshments where people with fibro could volunteer a few hours at a time and connect with others who understand the condition. A recurring theme was the deep desire for community connection and public education, with members sharing how even charity shop workers often don't know what fibromyalgia is, and how a dedicated shop could serve as both a fundraising hub and a much-needed gathering place for those living with invisible illness.

Its just that we see so many charity shops for all sorts..why not fibro,, we need them in our twn to let people, in&know about this illness&at same time make money for more research...I have worked in retail, so I would love to do it, but not sure how, also people that suffer wth fibro can volunteer,, as little as 1hr a day, if able too..that way it would help, us all, connect too...iam always giving really good stuff to charities&also buy good stuff too...I would love too..but as we all no the hrs would also have to realistic for us.:-):-)

Loz-
I think that's an awesome idea! I wish you the best in starting one up. It sure would be nice to have more awareness about Fibromyalgia. Maybe we could eliminate some of the ignorance and stigma for invisible illnesses. I hope you are having a good day. Peace and hugs. ๐Ÿ’
