Members reflected on their initial fibromyalgia diagnoses, with most recalling physical examinations that focused on tender or trigger point tests, which for some were painful enough to cause tears or visible reactions. Several members shared frustration with doctors who either rushed the diagnosis without thorough explanation, dismissed their detailed symptom lists, or provided no educational resources, leaving them to research the condition on their own. A recurring theme was the relief of finally having a diagnosis after years of unexplained pain, even when the process felt dismissive or incomplete.

I was diagnosed with CFS(chronic fatigue syndrome) at age 32 and Fibro in 2010. Being a nurse , I pretty much figured it out on my own. I did all the research and came to the conclusion that I have had fibro since age 32. It wasn't widely known at the time. Most of my siblings and their children are also affected with this disease.

Hi hope that this finds you well. I thought I was having a heart attack when I was diagnosed 17yrs ago
I had to go through extensive testing to make sure it wasn't. .doc looked at me and just said you have fibromyalgia disease, and didn't give me anything to read on it to see what it was , that quack. ..over the years I have done so much research that I believe that we all can find a cure for it
And said I was not to get stressed out...lmbo ...gotta laugh. .. I was married to the military at the time. ..that itself is stressful enough. .

I was given the pressure point tests, they made me cry the pain was so bad. I told him I felt like a crippled 90 yr old. He asked me about my other symptoms and took blood to eliminate what could be eliminated. I was just so glad to have a diagnosis of something I didn't ask a lot of questions.
